Is Your Kid Too Pretty To Do Homework? WAIT, WHAT?

By Jaime Morrison Curtis |

I don’t think I’ve ever been so disgusted by an article of clothing in my life, but I’d love to hear what you think of these slogan tees.  One t-shirt says “I’m too pretty to do homework so my brother has to do it for me” and another version states “My Best Subjects: Boys/Shopping/Music/Dance.” GAG. Find out which major retailer is selling this sexist, self-esteem crushing clothing and what they have to say about it…

These horrifying articles of clothing are from JC Penney. Read all about the controversy at Jezebel.

Are you serious?! It’s just a shirt. I think it’s stupid and ugly and I would never buy it for my daughter. See… it’s that easy. Learn to pick your battles.

  2. Dorothy says:

This is disgusting. What an awful message! I’m glad Penney’s responded and pulled the shirt. I’m especially glad they did it so quickly.

  3. Ambrosia says:

I totally agree. I’ve seen others talk about these shirts and some people say that it’s just a shirt, don’t buy it. BULL. To me, it’s just one more way to objectify girls/young women, to teach them that appearance is more important than intelligence, and that their hard work doesn’t matter. It would be just as easy to sell shirts with a positive message instead of crap like this. I have three boys, no daughters yet, but if I did I can promise I would NOT be letting them wear anything like this! (that goes for my boys, too though!)

  4. Amanda says:

Headline should read: “Is Your Kid *Too* Pretty…”.

    Just sayin’.

  5. Sarah says:

While Penney’s has pulled this shirt it has not yet done anything about the one that says “My Best Subjects: Boys, Shopping, Music, Dancing” or the Nike sponsored one that merely says “Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime”

i dont mind these shirts at all i think they are cute and fun, in fact my two girls own shirts with sayings like this. Everyone is complaining but did you see the baby onsies in spencers really compared to this this is nothing.
