Linen, the hard-wearing natural material created from the flax plant is the perfect fabric to keep cool in the summer and one of the most beautiful (I think) to look at, especially in the bedding department. It is also a very sustainable textile because it grows in cooler climates so irrigation and pesticides are rarely used. Because of its subtle variations in the surface, linen also gives your bed linen a distinctive texture and matte luster. Cool to know, IKEA is now carrying a series of linen textiles, LINBLOMMA (Duvet cover and pillowcases), $79.99 and AINA (curtains), $49.99 in beautiful shades of grey, beige and light pink. Who knew?
