Meet Nest, The Latest Gadget from Creator of the iPodHandmade Charlotte
What do you do after revolutionizing digital music by designing the iPod? If you’re former Apple VP Tony Fadell, you tackle another over-complicated device at the center of everyone’s daily life: the thermostat. Seriously, how many people actually enjoy (or even know how) to program their thermostat?
As Nest CEO Tony Fadell describes his latest device:
“Turns out you change the temperature in your house 1500 times a year. 1500! Our thermostat learns what temperatures you like so it can program itself. It senses when you’re out and turns itself down. And we started from scratch with design, so it’s beautiful. Gorgeous hardware, easy install, fully integrated software, remote control from your smartphone.”
Here’s a preview of the first ad explaining the Nest Learning Thermostat:
The Nest Learning Thermostat retails for $249 will begin shipping in November. According to Nest, you can install the thermostat yourself in just 20 minutes, no professional installer necessary.
