Non-Annoying Christmas Music

I have a hard time listening to most Christmas music. In fact it’s been several years since I’ve been able to switch on the holiday tunes during December. Perhaps it was all those years of working retail, which did in fact give me a pretty Bah Humbug attitude about this season. I just find most holiday music to be pretty obnoxious. This year, I’ve slowly been getting back into seasonal music. Baby steps. I like all the different renditions of “Last Christmas,” originally by Wham! I enjoy “River” covered by Rachael Yamagata, originally by Joni Mitchell. If it’s got a hint of melancholy, I’ll probably love it. I recently discovered this lovely little duo from England. Two guys that play ukelele, guitar and banjo. My Two Toms is all instrumental. I am not usually up for instrumental music, unless it’s classical, but I’ve been loving their album. It has this great festive feel to it and it’s pretty low key. I think I could listen all winter long.

Buy their album at Harrop + Penny, preview it at Bandcamp, or check out their website.
