Not Your Parents' Kid PlayhousesElinaMamaista
Once there was a little girl, who dreamt of having her own outdoor playhouse. She went to bed every night hoping that when she woke up, a playhouse would magically appear in her yard. She imagined all the tea parties, picnics and sleepovers she could host, but alas, her dream was not to be.
Ok, you guessed right…that sad little girl was me! And unless you want your offspring to blog about her deep and bitter disappointment as an adult, you’d best get her one of these kid playhouses pronto. Here are my favorite houses at any price point:
Custom Cutie (photo above)
Completely customizable with any color scheme or even your child’s photo, the qb Playhouse company gets what kids want and creates little houses to dazzle the imagination and encourage creative play. They even have a treehouse option so you can spare your husband the 5 year never-ending project he’s about to take on.

Mini and Mod
By now, your kids have probably inherited your love of all things contemporary, which is why they will appreciate the modern vibe of this cool little Kiddo house ($1500) from Modern Cabana. Colorful, sleek, and worthy of the most show-stopping backyards, don’t be surprised to find yourself hiding in here for some precious “time out.”
High Art, High Design
While this structure may puzzle you at first, the M-4 Playgoda from architect and artist Gregg Fleishman is going to wow the kids and anyone who happens to spot this in your backyard. With a place to sit, slide and climb, the designer has thought of everything. His pieces come dissaembled, so if you can figure out how to put it together (or how you will afford it) contact the designer by phone or email to order your own.
This little cottage is sturdy, eco-friendly and so easy on your budget ($60). In fact, if you squint and close your eyes, one could easily mistake this one for a quaint little French farmhouse. Cardboard or not, the kids will never know the difference.
Alice in Wonderland
This Mad Hatter house from Kids Crooked House may cost a pretty penny, ($2599 to be exact), but just imagine all the fun they will have in this off-the-wall creations. With so many colors and style to choose from, this company won’t give up until you have created a house you’ll be proud to show off.
