Perfect Summertime Tote "It" Bags

By Natalie |

Did you read the article in the New York Times proclaiming the tote bag as the next big “it” bag? (If not, you can find it RIGHT HERE.) I was completely fascinated by it (after I finished rolling my eyes at it first–tote bags? We’ve been using these for years…), and I promptly took to my closets to see what kind of tote treasure I could unearth (I am nothing if not a slave to fashion, dahhling ;). I found more than a couple really cute totes I’d forgotten I had, and in the few months since I’ve been noticing other cool, seemingly effortless totes on the arms of cute girls and even fashionable guys around the city. So it must be true!

Even better than this sudden proclamation of “coolness” is the fact that tote bags really are the most dang useful things around. Easy to ball up inside a larger bag for spontaneous shopping trips, perfect for lugging picnics to the park, simple to toss in the wash when soiled, inexpensive to collect, and somehow, I swear, tote makers have gotten really, really good at making just exactly the tote for whatever your passions.

After the jump, some of my very favorites, should you be in the market for a tote, yourself!
