Sandra Bullock's Bessence Candles: Yep, She Makes Candles TooCathy Hale
America’s Sweetheart. Top-Earning Actress. Academy-Award Winner. Proud Mommy. Candle Maker. It’s true! In addition to being “all that and a bag of chips,” Sandra Bullock has a line of soy-based, hand-poured, beautiful candles. She launched the Bessence collection in 2008, but I only recently discovered it.
I happen to live in Austin, which is home to her restaurant, Bess Bistro, and her flower shop, Walton’s Fancy and Staple. I was in Walton’s looking for a gift when the sales lady recommended them.
The keepsake packaging is exquisite and the scents are divine. I bought the Black Cassis and it is addictive. I’ve purchased quite a few now, because I like them for myself and they make wonderful gifts.
Sandra, known for being an eco-friendly kind of gal, started the line because she did not like the petroleum-derived paraffin and other harmful chemicals that exist in traditional candles. Bessence candles are soy based with lead-free wicks, so they are clean burning up to 50 hours (up to 15 hours for smaller sizes). Plus, all four fragrances enhance the dining experience.
You can find the candles on the Bess Bistro website. The travel size retails for $14 and the larger candles retails for $40. It goes without saying, this is a SUPER gift idea. File it away!
