Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and now Small Business Saturday! Tomorrow, Saturday November 27th, marks the first ever Small Business Saturday. This is a time to celebrate and support those local mom and pop shops that add charm and personality to your local community. What would you do without that family-owned restaurant? or the local nursery? or the little toy store? To encourage shoppers to take time for small businesses, American Express is offering a $25 credit to everyone who shops at a local, independently-owned business in your community. Here’s how you can participate in Small Business Saturday and receive your $25 credit:
Simply spend at least $25 at an independently-owned small businesse in your community that accepts the American Express Card (not franchises though), and you’ll receive a $25 credit to your AmEx statement. In addition, for every “like” received on the Small Business Saturday Facebook page, American Express will donate $1 to Girls, Inc…an organization supporting female entrepreneurs. So far they’ve raised over a million dollars for this organization!
You can get started by first registering your American Express Cards at SmallBusinessSaturday.com/Enroll. I’ve already registered my AmEx in preparation for Small Business Saturday and it only took me about 2 minutes to do so at the above link. Totally doable. This is a great way to get to know some new shops in your neighborhood or revisit familiar haunts.
