I’ve long documented my obsession with dressing up my son. Basically, it comes down to this. I wanted a girl. Got a boy. Found out that boy apparel has reached a whole new level of cool. Decided I no longer need a girl. That said, a lot of my friends with boys who wanted girls are still in a tizzy over the genetic lottery. And no matter how much I assure them that yes, that yes, there are so many amazing designers doing cool stuff for boys, they still don’t believe me. So in honor of them, take a look at this best looks for boys for back to school.

Wonderboy Clothing (see photo above)
Created by a mom who was tired of boring boy clothes, this collection is anything but tired. The Wonderboy shirts ultra modern with amazing details like customized buttons and double seam stitching on the shirt. This sweatshirt is from the fall collection and is my top pick for back to school. It’s no wonder every boy (and moms) wants one! Available starting today! at smallconcept.com.
The cutest jackets and tees make this urban brand a fun romp for back to school. The Captain Monkey line has it all — texture, color, and mixed and matched patterns combine with hip styling. Just check out this Abraham blazer and tee.
Petit Bateau Raincoat
Not just for boys (this one is unisex,) but the Petit Bateau raincoat is a must-have classic staple for back to school. The perfect yellow shade meets an adorable stripe lining with detachable hood to create a timeless look they won’t ever want to take off — no matter how sunny. There’s even a “baby” version for little sibs.
Mini and Maximus
Edgy tees that have humor, style and attitude, the people behind Mini and Maximus love kids and it shows. I’m especially obsessed with the Drool and Don’t Grow Up tees. Your guy will stand out in that too-cool, just rolled-out-of-bed look.
Known for their cool dinosaur hat, the Bobinette brand also includes amazing shirts with intricate details and my favorite the plaid London pant for fall.
Crew Cuts Jacket
Easy rider meets pre-school cool with this pint-size replica of the biker jacket worn by the U.S. motorcycle team wore in East Germany circa 1964. No one is promising you a little Steve McQueen, but this rugged jacket is as authentic as it gets.
