Late in the Spring, I purchased a white cotton button front tunic form the Jill Sander collection for Uniqlo. (I was there the day the new collection hit the store and in a frenzy I also purchased two dresses and a jacket, none of which I tried on, so they all were returned) The white tunic however, was the best $49.99 I had spent in a long time. I wear it with shorts and skinny jeans, but what I really wish is that I could wear it as a dress. It is long enough to throw over a swimsuit, yet it hits just above the line that separates “long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep it interesting,” so wearing it with underwear doesn’t work.
So now I have been obsessing over finding a shirt dress, which I think is the key to my summer wardr0be happiness. And, I did find this one from the Wanderlust collection at Madewell —you may recall the bracelets I blogged about a week and a half ago— and it has all the right stuff. Made from organic cotton, this menswear-inspired shirtdress falls just above the knee, and is hand-sewn by (and directly supports) local artisans in Cambodia. It’s good and green!
Given the $88 price tag, six weeks left of summer (and the fact that come fall this would be perfect over skinny jeans or leggings), I am a click away from ordering. See more colors after the jump.
