Sweepstake Sunday: Win an Alvin Ailey Dance Prize Package!

So you think you can dance? Or at least want to give it a shot?

If you live in the New York area (or are planning a visit in the near future), you can enter to win two free complimentary dance classes from the Alvin Ailey extension, along with a pair of tickets to select performances of Alvin Ailey’s upcoming winter season (including family-friendly matinee performances). Find out how to enter after the jump!

I recently got to try out a class at the Alvin Ailey Extension, and I think it just might be one of my favorite new ways to work out! Alvin Ailey Extension has over 25 different types of classes to choose from for all ages and levels including hip hop, zumba, ballet, and more.  I tried out a Horton intro class, which is a form of modern dance and was just right for complete beginners and more experienced dancers alike. The instructor was hilarious and challenging, yet patient in re-explaining steps or answering questions. And as an extra-special bonus, they had live bongo drums in class! See the full list of classes (plus semester classes for the kids!).

I also got a sneak peek of “Home,” one of  Alvin Ailey’s upcoming shows for the winter season. Choreographed by Rennie Harris, the show is filled with bold hip hop moves set to gospel house music and inspired by the stories of people living with or affected by HIV. Despite the heavy subject material, the show is a celebration of life, and with so much energy and rhythm bursting from the stage, it’s sure to keep the attention of the whole family, even your younger kids.

Check out the full upcoming winter season here.

To enter, leave a comment below this post with the answer to the question: What’s your kids’ favorite song to dance to? You have until 5pm EST on Sunday, November 20 to enter, at which point a winner will be chosen.
