Today is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, the first day of summer. I think it can be hard for grown-ups, trekking to work in suits in 90-degree heat, to recall the wonder of summer. But for kids, the mere word is heaven. It means ice-cream, it means fireworks, it means spending the whole day in a bathing suit.
For me, the romanticized version of childhood summer that I hope to recreate for my daughter is a mash-up of actual memories (hotdogs from the pool snack-bar, spotting fireflies in the backyard) and various scenes from the movie The Sandlot. And it definitely includes this swing.
All you get when you purchase the Original Tree Swing is a beautifully finished slice of log and 20 feet of rope. And that’s all you need to turn a tree into the perfect place to while away a long lazy day. Even better, the family owned and operated company that produces them in Minneapolis never cuts down any trees to make their products, instead those slices of log come from reclaimed timber that was already cut down due to disease, construction, or weather damage. Suitable for ages 3 and up.
