Three Favorite Places to Dine at DisneylandJaime Morrison Curtis
Disneyland may be better known for exciting attractions and rides than it is for haute cuisine, but after many years of visiting the park (I grew up in SoCal after all), I can share a few favorite spots to stop for a bite, and why I think you’ll enjoy them as much as I do. Check out my three favorite places to dine at Disneyland…
My Three Favorite Places to Dine at Disneyland
#1 My absolute favorite Disney restaurant: The Blue Bayou
The Blue Bayou is not the lowest-cost option at Disneyland, but in my opinion it’s worth the splurge. The restaurant is located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, with a perpetual moonlight view of the fireflies and water on the “bayou.” I love this restaurant because it is always cool and dark, the perfect place for a midday break from the sun and sounds of the park. When my daughter was still napping, we would roll the stroller right in and she would konk out, while dad and I took a welcome respite from the long day.
#2 My second favorite place to dine at Disneyland: Napa Rose
The reason I love this restaurant is quite simple: wine. Napa Rose is located in Disney’s California Adventure, and is the only restaurant inside either park to serve up beverages of the adult variety. No need to monorail it over to the Disneyland hotel when a lovely selection of California wines is available alongside tasty local cuisine. ‘Nuff said.
#3 My third favorite Disney dining experience: Rancho del Zocalo
Rancho del Zocalo is a great place to grab a quick lunch, located at the edge of Frontierland, as you make your way over from the main square (perhaps after leaving a fun-filled morning in Fantasyland). I love this restaurant for two reasons: I love Mexican food, and I love shade. Rancho del Zocalo offers Mexican meals (and kids’ meals), with a large indoor dining area as well as an outdoor shaded patio. I always bounce over here with the family for lunch because I know we will be able to eat some healthier fare, but more importantly, find a seat.
A fun tip: If you have the Verizon Disney Mobile Magic app, you can view menus, check hours, and even make reservations right from your phone.
