You may have heard that Verizon is going to be adding the iPhone to its network soon. Well, CNET and the Wall Street Journal have confirmed that on Friday, Verizon sent the press invites to an event in New York City tomorrow, so it looks like we can expect to learn much more about the Verizon iPhone in the coming days, with more to be revealed at the network’s media event. How soon will you be able to get your hands on one?
Pretty soon, actually! According to the WSJ, the Verizon iPhone should be available in Verizon stores around the end of January. The WSJ has also indicated that the Verizon iPhone will be similar to the iPhone 4, but run on the Verizon’s CDMA technology instead.
For the first time, iPhone users will have a choice of network! It remains to be seen how Verizon’s acquisition of the iPhone will affect the iPhone’s parent network, AT&T, though. CNET has said that it might actually help AT&T users (that is, if they don’t make the switch to Verizon). AT&T has had many issues with performance on the network due to an unplanned for and overwhelming demand for data since the iPhone launched, resulting in consumer complaints. In fact, in December, consumers voted AT&T the worst carrier in terms of customer satisfaction!
Since AT&T has been struggling to keep up, it sounds like Verizon is acquiring the iPhone at a perfect time for consumers! Will you make the switch?
