Vintage American Girl

american girl vintage

Last weekend as I was baking pink sugar cookies with my two nieces, my niece brought out her wrinkled, well-read American Girl catalog. This made me smile. I was obsessed with the American Girl catalog as a girl. Every night before I went to bed, I read the Pleasant Company catalog and dreamed about owning a Kirsten doll and wearing the matching girl’s clothing that went with it. I never did get a doll! The old catalogs were really beautifully put together though and I think the fun part was dreaming about all of it. I found some scans of the old catalogs online so I could show my nieces. My favorite part was the girls clothing. Take a look at a few of my favorites below and find out where to search for them online. I think the outfits still look adorable and not dated at all. After all, they were based on historically accurate designs that represented different eras in history and the styling is very timeless. If you can’t find these exact vintage pieces, I think the photographs provide great inspiration for a little girl’s wardrobe.
