What's on Your Summer Soundtrack?

By Chelsea Fuss |

What’s on your summer soundtrack? Here are a few favorite artists especially suited for road trips and beach time.

Acid House Kings: Light, airy music that will transport you back to 1970′s Sweden.

Alela Diane: Like Neko Case but with a little more twang.

Phosphorescent: The perfect soundtrack for sitting on the porch on a warm summer evening. Start with “Tell Me Baby”

The Dø: An experimental band whose spacious music feels just right for hot weather. “Stay” is a favorite.

Stornoway: A mix between Mumford and Sons and The Decemberists.

Happy listening!

This is a great list, but you’ve got to add Explosions in the Sky, I’m in deep smit with them.

whenever i think of summer music i think of beachy stuff with a slightly 60′s vibe. i love little joy, real estate, best coast, and surfer blood for this kind of music. plus edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros have such a bouncy, hippy-ish sound, it works well for summer, too. and alexander’s “a million years.”
