10 Reasons the Kids and I Are Looking Forward to Spring

Just about a week ago, we had the first “official” day of spring. It’s always my favorite time of year and not only because I celebrate my birthday on the same day! I love spring!

I have never been a fan of winter and the cold, but when I had kids the hatred for that season grew stronger. Things just seemed more droll, complicated, and never-ending during winter, which makes spring just so much better.

Here are 10 reasons the kids and I are looking forward to spring:

It's a superior season for many reasons.
  • Expelling Energy 2 of 11

Trapped indoors during the winter leaves us all frazzled. When spring weather hits, they can get rid of all that energy outside.

    Getting Out the Door Faster
The winter time means it takes FOREVER to get out the door. We have to collect snow pants, boots, hats and mittens. The spring time only calls for a light jacket and shoes!
  • Open Window 4 of 11
    Open Window
That fresh air can do amazing things for the house and my mood. It's obviously too cold to open the windows in the below-freezing temperatures of the winter, but spring -- oh yeah!
  • Dinner’s Outside 5 of 11
    Dinner's Outside
Eating dinner with the kids is admittedly not my favorite time of day. There's not much we can do to mix it up a bit, but when springtime comes, we can eat our dinners outside with helps a lot.
  • Bike Riding 6 of 11
    Bike Riding
My kids only just started showing interest in bike riding at the end of last summer. This spring, we are both looking forward to perfecting this skill.
  • Kite Flying 7 of 11
    Kite Flying
I've never flown a kite with the kids and they're so at that age where they will love doing it. We're both excited.
  • Sport’s Time 8 of 11
    Sport's Time
Being able to go outside and play sports and run around does so much awesome for the body. I can't wait to watch the kids develop their skills and they can't wait to beat me at soccer again.
  • Playground Dates 9 of 11

Jungle gym that doesn't require the kids to climb and jump all over me is something I am just so ready for.
  • Happier Everyone 10 of 11
    Happier Everyone
The sun comes out, we get more Vitamin D, the cold clouds leave and the happiness comes in for everyone.
  • Gardening 11 of 11
The kids and I have a plan this year to start our own garden in the backyard. They will be involved in all of it from choosing seeds to weeding.
