I have a lot of hopes and dreams for my kids. I want them to grow up with fond memories of their childhood. I want them to have pictures to look back on and see how much fun we had. I want them to see the good times and the bad times and how we all stuck together as a family.
I want them to grow up with a great sense of who they are. I want them to have amazing self esteem and live a life that is true to who they are. There are many ways they can express their true selves through what job they take when they grow up, their growing goals, the people they hang out with and well, the way they present themselves.
At 30 years old, I am still trying to find my way through fashion. I am breaking away from the “mom look” and I want to be comfortable in what I am wearing and how I present myself. When I was growing up, I tried all the looks and had fun with it. The fun of being a kid is that you can experiment with different styles of fashion and laugh years later when you wonder what you were thinking.
I am no fashion-forward person, but even I can recognize that these choices are just backwards. I respect that my kids will make some choices in fashion that I may not understand, but there are some I hope they steer clear of entirely.
