12 Favorite Parenting Moments from 2012

It’s been a great year for my family.

We’ll remember 2012 as the year my 9 year old started 4th grade, the summer we vacationed at Disney World, and the first months in our brand-new house.

Since it’s the last day of the year, what better way to spend it than to think about some of our favorite memories?

I’ve rounded up 12 parenting highlights of 2012. Some were more monumental than others, but they all center around spending time the best way possible: with those we love most.

Here’s to a great 2013!

Learning to Go with the Flow
I've learned a lot of parenting lessons in the past year, but learning to relax and go with the flow has been one of the most important. Sometimes you just have to adopt a "whatever works" philosophy, and allowing my daughter to take a snooze in the grocery cart was an example of just that.

This gorgeous fall day spent with out-of-town relatives is one of my happiest memories from the past year.

My husband and I made a goal last year to make our relationship more of a priority, and regular date nights were a great way to accomplish that.

This year we purchased a tailgating spot with some good friends, and cheering on our team was fun for the whole family. Go Herd!

It may not happen often, but when my kids get dressed up I make them pose for the obligatory photo. Aren't they so cute?
  • Playing T Ball 6 of 12
    Playing T Ball
I'll be honest: I didn't expect to like T-ball, but it turned out to be a great experience for my 5 year old. I loved cheering him on at his games, and bonus: it was a wonderful way to make some new mom friends.
  • Just Swinging 7 of 12

My 9 year old is such a good big brother. We celebrated his birthday family style this year!

My father lives on the west coast, so time with him is always special. Here he is with my kiddos in September.

Earlier this month my 3 and 5 year olds had a Polar Express Day at preschool. They loved going to school in their jammies!

Meeting Sleeping Beauty at Epcot this past summer is one of my very favorite memories. The look on my daughter's face says it all!
