Me and My Dad

It’s Father’s Day Week, so it’s time to celebrate the men in your children’s lives.

This list celebrates dads in a way that underlines what we can do better than moms. This isn’t to say dads are better than mom, these specific things, we are more likely to do better than you (or at least I do better than my wife).

I’m not trying to reignite the Parent Wars here, I’m just sayin’ .. there are just some things dads are AWESOME at.

Each parent brings a specific skill set to the parenting team. It’s true that moms can be better than dads at certain things, so I’m going to argue these are 14 things Dads Do Best.

Dads Are Better at .. Fixing Ice Cream Cones

We won't just do it because the ice cream cone needs fixing, we do it because we want to.

You can find an exception to each and every one of these rules, but these are the things I do best for my kids or my dad did best for me.

Sigh… I really hope you don’t get slammed about this one because its cute. I love and embrace the differences between moms and dads (or hey, dads and dads, and moms & moms…) because its what gives a family some balance.

Thanks, Voula… that’s my take too. Moms and Dads ARE different and that’s why we make a great team.

Nice post, Dadcamp! Vive la différence!

Although you only mentioned it in a sort of throw-away parenthetical aside, I hope people can take this as a valid personal experience, and not a proclamation about or to other parents. It’s a journal entry, not a persuasive essay. Bottom line is that every parent brings different things to the table, and it’s okay to be proud of the things you are good at.

What a nice post!! A great way to celebrate Dads and a reminder that it takes a lot of different (and sometimes under appreciated) skills to be a parent. I hope you have a lovely Father’s Day!!
