5 Mistakes I Made While Preparing for Halloween

5 Mistakes I Made While Preparing for HalloweenHappy Halloween Babble Kids!

I know you likely think I hate Halloween, but my kids are just so excited about it this year it’s hard for me to not get into the spirit of it all. I will admit it’s not my favorite ‘holiday’, but it’s once a year and I love the excitement in the air.

It’s not even noon yet and my kids are already wishing it was dark out and they can put on their costumes. Speed is at school today and was so excited to be allowed to take his costume to school and no longer have his Iron Man suit hanging in the closet. Raru is being her favorite animal (a cat) this year and is already wearing part of her costume. Little Bean is so excited for the first time this year about this night. Now 3 and a half years old, she is excited to dress up as TinkerBell and show off her cute.

I forgot to get myself a costume and am already kicking myself for that. It’s not the only mistake I have made before Trick or Treating has started though (bad mommy!).

Click through to read 5 mistakes I’ve made already this Halloween:

  • Forgot the Bags 1 of 5
    Forgot the Bags
I don't know what I was thinking this year, obviously I wasn't and I forgot to get the kids bags for their candy. I am now left with the option of using ones at home that are way too big (and that's not a good thing!)

  • I Bought Candy Too Early 2 of 5
    I Bought Candy Too Early
I made the huge mistake this year of trying to get it done before hand and get the candy I needed for the trick or treaters. Problem is I bought it too early and we ate it.

  • It’s Going to Be Cold 3 of 5
    It's Going to Be Cold
I don't know what I was thinking -- it's never warm here in October but this year my kids costumes (especially Bean's) are not at all cold-weather friendly.

  • I Don’t Think I Have Enough Candy 4 of 5
    I Don't Think I Have Enough Candy
When I realized that I had made the fist mistake of getting the candy too early I went out to get more and still -- I don't think I got enough.

  • No Light Outside 5 of 5
    No Light Outside
Our light outside is not working so there won't be an easy way to let the kids in the community know that we're participating in the night -- will have to get creative, fast!
