7 Reasons I Dread Taking My Kids to the Beach

The summer is here, the kids are pretty much done with school for the year, and they are now asking to do things. This is the first year where the older two are old enough to know that they can request doing things — that there are things to do outside of fun things around the house/neighbourhood.

This year they have asked to go to the zoo, to go on a roller coaster, to go camping and to go to the beach. I am sure a lot more requests will pop up as the summer goes on, and hopefully they will be manageable and not too crazy.

This week we are hoping to cross one of the to-do wishes off the list and take the clan to the beach. There is a decent sized one not too far from us where we will be headin,g and I would be lying to you if I said I was totally looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to seeing the kids experience something new and fun, but just wish this particular activity wasn’t on the list.

Click through for the 7 reasons I am so not looking forward to going to the beach:

    In Public with Bathing Suit
It's not an issue for the kids, but for me. I hate being in a bathing suit & I hate it even more in public.

Shocker right? It gets in your food, stuck to your skin and takes forever to get out of the kids' hair.

  • Too Hot 3 of 7
    Too Hot
You can't be at the beach without it being warm. I am not a fan of the summer heat and hate being in the sun.

It will take me like forever to pack all the things up for the kids -- probably a whole day before just in prep work.

I put them in swim lessons last year and had to pull them out because they hated it. Not even sure they will go in the water.

  • Sun Lotion Everywhere 6 of 7

It's a must, but I hate it! The coconutty smell and it makes sand stick to you even more!

    There Is No Escape
You know when your kids are driving you crazy and you lock yourself in the washroom for 2 minutes to yourself? Can't happen there.
