My husband and I are lucky to have exceptionally healthy teeth. Between the two of us, we have a total of two cavities (both his, ahem) and neither of us had to have braces. We brush our teeth religiously, although I’m ashamed to admit that we are really bad about flossing. Mostly because we (read: I) never worried about it because cavities were never an issue. I realize that’s not the best logic, but it is what it is.
As such, I’ve never been overly concerned about the health of my kid’s teeth. I just sort of assumed that, because they come from good teeth genes, they’d have healthy teeth as well. They brush their teeth regularly, but I have to admit that we haven’t visited the dentist as often as we should have.
Which is why Zachary’s first trip to the tooth doctor happened this weekend. Luckily, we have a good friend who just happens to be a dentist, and she offered to clean the boy’s teeth while she was in her office cleaning her own kid’s teeth. I was quick to take her up on her offer. Zach was a little bit nervous, but the fact that it was a friend who was going to be doing the cleaning helped to ease his worries.
He got to see the three other kids go first, so he knew what to expect, and when it was finally his turn he hopped into the chair and was ready for the fun to begin! You can see the photos from his dentist visit below!
