This year Babble sent two of its bloggers to the New York Toy Fair to scope out the latest and greatest products for kids and the family. Joslyn Gray and Lauren Jimeson lived every child’s dream, playing with hundreds of the hottest toys to narrow down their favorite picks based on educational value, originality, and overall entertainment factor. While Lauren rounded up toys for babies, toddlers, and kids 3+, Joslyn covered kids 5+, kids 8+ and the top family games. Their final list features brands as big as Hasbro and as small as SweetLocks Brushes (which is still seeking crowdsourced funding) — so you’re sure to find some new toys for your little ones that will earn you an extra hug or two! —Babble Editorssee the full list »

FAMILY GAMES | Twister Dance Rave
A fun, modern take on classic Twister, Twister Dance Rave lets kids learn dances and show off their moves. Songs from popular artists are included, but you can also plug your own mp3 player into the console. Follow the lights and the beat, stepping on the iconic Twister spots (not a mat) in head-to-head or freestyle play.
I love that you can plug your own mp3 player into the console. I can see this being a huge hit with my 11-year-old daughters and their friends. It would be great for parties, playdates and any time your kids need to burn off some energy indoors.
Age 8 and up. Available fall 2013 from Hasbro, $34.99
