Disney, Through Dylan's Lens

After a somewhat challenging start, we ended up having a fantastic time at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure last week. The boys loved it as much as any 4- and 7-year-olds can, and the baby even seemed to enjoy it. Except towards the very end, when all he wanted was to get out of his stroller. But who can blame him?

At one point during our trip, my husband and my 4-year-old headed off to go on the ride Tower of Terror at Disney’s California Adventure. My 7-year-old was not at all interested on going on a “scary” ride, so he stayed behind with the baby and me. As we walked around the park, he asked if he could use my (new) camera to take some pictures. I was a little nervous about handing it over, but finally gave in and let him use it for a few minutes.

It was adorable to see him walk around holding it as carefully as he could, and seeing his little mind work trying to decide what to take a picture of was really entertaining. It was fun to look at the pictures and see things through his lens. He ended up noticing things I never would have, and now we have some great (and some not so great) photos of our trip that we never would have had otherwise.

You can check them out below, and you can read more about our trip on my personal blog, here.

  • His Brother 1 of 12
    His Brother
The baby loved seeing his brother behind the lens. As usual, he hammed it up.
  • Santa Bear 2 of 12
    Santa Bear
I'm not sure if this is a character I don't know about or just a random bear in a Santa suit. Either way, it's kind of weird.
  • Ducks 3 of 12
    Ducks
He wanted to capture the ducks, but wasn't quite tall enough to see over the railing.
  • La Familia 4 of 12
    La Familia
He was insistent on getting a picture of all of us. A few family members are missing, but I adore this photo anyway.
  • Dude in a Black T-Shirt 5 of 12
    Dude in a Black T-Shirt
If it weren't for the random guy who takes up 50% of the frame, I think this would have been an awesome photo.
  • Mickey’s Fun Wheel 6 of 12
    Mickey's Fun Wheel
He was working on figuring out the zoom while trying to avoid being trampled.
  • Paradise Pier 7 of 12
    Paradise Pier
I love this photo. A lot. The bright flowers in the foreground make it so...cheerful. If the focus had been spot on, this would have been a keeper.
  • Railing 8 of 12
    Railing
If it's possible, I think I love this photo even more than the last one. The railing catches your eye first, and then you notice the bear mountain in the background. Love it.
  • Seagull 9 of 12
    Seagull
Another attempt to photograph the water birds...again with the railing a little too high for him.
  • Framed by Palm Trees 10 of 12
    Framed by Palm Trees
I love how "California" this picture is.
  • Reflections 11 of 12
    Reflections
The water is a bit murky looking, but the reflection is pretty darn cool.
  • Window Shopping 12 of 12
    Window Shopping
Mickey and his friends are peering out at us. They want to come enjoy the fun, too!
