It's Lorax Eve!

By caseymullins |

“It’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday tomorrow! DO I GET CAKE?”

“Who’s that green guy in the building?”

“What is a Once-ler?”

“I like truffle trees! Truffula? OH! I like those too!”

“I wonder what The Lorax looks like without his mustache.”

“I played The Lorax at school today!”

“DID YOU KNOW TAYLOR SWIFT DOES THE VOICE OF THE GIRL WITH ORANGE HAIR?”

“Where does the Lorax live? I’M GOING TO DRAW HIM A HOUSE. He’ll have a fluffy tree doorknob!”

Sooo…guess what we’re doing tomorrow?

I don’t think Addie quite understands that we’re not going to be bringing Vivi to the movie with us. She’s already unhappy that Vivi has a Dr. Seuss quote in her room and she only has Shakespeare. Plans will be made to accommodate her excitement BUT I know in the meantime I’m going to have an awful lot of questions to answer between now and then.

“MOM! The Lorax takes care of the trees!”

“MOM! Let’s read the Lorax again!”

“Why does Dr. Seuss draw such weird things? Who’s ever seen a purple kangaroo?”

“Do you think the Lorax and Horton are friends?”

Phew.

There’s a few things I have planned to distract her until movie time.

FIRST! A giant Lorax doodling book I picked up at the store this evening, a hundred pages of recycled paper encouraging kids to recycle, conserve energy and use their creativity.

Second! The Truffula Shuffle App on my Android phone. Like Tetris or connect four but with fluffy tree tops!

Are you opening day movie people? Addie and I are, but Cody? Not so much.

SHOWTIME AT 4:20 TOMORROW! WHEE!! (I’m thinking I’m going to have to do an interview with Addie after the movie.)
