For the first in my 10 Ways to Dump the Mom Frump series, let’s tackle clothes!
The trouble with most attempts to defrump is that we set unattainable goals for ourselves.
Visions of stylish, dry clean only outfits paired with pretty heels, while lovely, are simply impractical for most moms.
We still need to be able to run to drop off a forgotten lunch, walk across a soccer field, and make last-minute dashes to the grocery store.
Yoga pants and a sweatshirt are comfortable, easy, and require zero thought in the morning rush, but they certainly don’t make me feel good about myself. At all.
So, I’m trying to set realistic goals for myself.
Instead of buying clothes that will hang alongside all of the other impractical and uncomfortable clothes in my closet, I’m rethinking things.
Here are some suggestions to take things up a notch while staying comfortable at the same time…
Instead of yoga pants and a hoodie, how about… 1 of 11…a super comfy dress paired with cozy leggings? I love this Ahleta Get There Dress.
Get it at Athleta, $79.
Instead of those faded-and-not-in-a-good-way jeans, how about… 2 of 11…a relaxed dress that will be comfortable all day? I love this one from Anthropologie.
Get it at Anthropologie, $158
Rather than putting on those tennis shoes, try… 3 of 11…these fun ballet flats from J. Jill.
Get them from J. Jill, $79
As a replacement for boring everyday jeans, how about… 4 of 11…this pretty Anthropologie dress paired with some stylish tights?
Get it from Anthropologie, $128
Tired of those sloppy sneakers? Replace them with… 5 of 11…these ballet flats in a fun color from Toms.

As an alternative to those yoga pants, how about… 6 of 11…a relaxed pant like these from Victoria's Secret? (I'll be wearing a longer top, thanks!)
Get them from Victoria's Secret, $34
Instead of a plain jacket, how about… 7 of 11…a great jacket in a fun color? I love this Define jacket from Lululemon.
Get it from Lululemon, $99
Replace that tired pullover jacket with… 8 of 11…this jersey cardigan from American Eagle that looks cozy, but takes things up a comfortable notch.
Get it from American Eagle, $29
Instead of sweats and a pullover, how about… 9 of 11…a dress that feels like a nightgown, but doesn't look like one? This Athleta dress belongs in my closet!
Get it from Athleta, $99
Instead of a plain, boring t-shirt, how about… 10 of 11…a cozy tunic with an interesting print? This Henna Border Scoopneck Tunic is perfect.
Get it from Athleta, $128
It’s amazing how much… 11 of 11...a casual necklace can make a world of difference in how you feel. Keep this Athleta necklace by the door with your keys to dress things up a bit.
