Paper Mache Pumpkin Lanterns :

Your school-aged kids will love to get messy with this splendid paper mache pumpkin jack-o-lantern. With a little help from mom or dad, their artistic talents will shine.

Supplies:

Utility light (a DiggersList find), orange and yellow tissue paper, Vaseline, balloon, flour, water, salt

How to:

Step 1: Inflate balloon to pumpkin size

Step 2: Smear vaseline on balloon to prevent sticking

Step 3: Place 1 part flour to 5 parts water with a dash of salt (to prevent molding) and boil for three minutes

Step 4: tear orange tissue into strips/pieces and apply 4 layers, let dry, then add 3-4 more layers leaving hole in top large enough for the utility light to fit through

Step 5: Cut yellow tissue to create face and adhere with flour/water paste, let dry

Step 6: pop balloon, then carefully squeeze utility light through hole and hang
