My son started kindergarten last month and it’s amazing. He’s doing so well learning his way around the school, meeting new friends, and taking in the new information from his teacher. It’s been a delight watching him grow into his new school for the past month.
I need to grow into his new school, too. The first PTA meeting is coming up and I want a front row seat. I signed up to work on the book fair because a friend of mine is the chair and I want to help her out. I want to have lunch at school with him and read stories in the classroom sometimes. I want to help with holiday celebrations and birthday parties.
But…I can’t do all that and be a regular contributor to Babble.
As a parent, I know that there are only so many hours in the day and every day demands choices in how I use the time. This is one of those crossroads where I have to give up one thing to make way for another. This is a point in time where my kids need more than the Babble community does and I’m choosing accordingly. I’ve loved writing and reading here at Babble Kid for the past year and, while I’m sad to go, I’m excited for this new adventure my son and I are taking together.
This community of writers and readers is wonderful and will remain one of my go-to stops on the Internet when I need perspective and advice about kids. I love the support for other parents I see here and I’ll always enjoy reading my fellow writers. But it’s time for me to move on and spend me time in my local community instead of the virtual one.
Farewell, Babble Kid, and thank you It’s been my pleasure and I’ll miss you all!
