Forget What I Said Earlier. We're Taking a Vacation.

San Diego, circa 2008

As I was going through photos earlier today while putting this post together, I had a really fun time reminiscing about some of our past outings and vacations. Because we live somewhere that is a world famous travel destination, we tend to stick close to home. We don’t necessarily need to pay to go somewhere since we have a pretty awesome version of paradise in our own backyard. But, it was a nice reminder that packing up and heading out of town, even for a few days, is a great way to freshen things up and spend some quality time together.

I hadn’t planned on going anywhere this summer, and, realistically, we have no business going out of town when we have so much work to do on our house. But looking at those photos today, and being reminded about about the awesome memories that are associated with them, has me changing my mind.

Palm Springs - circa 2010

You might notice, from the picture above (and the one above that) that our littlest, Oliver, is missing. That would be due to the fact that we haven’t taken a real family vacation since he was born, almost two years ago. In fact, our last vacation was in June of 2010, just before he was born. We spent a fabulous few days at Rancho Las Palmas in Palm Springs, CA with our little family of four. My, how things have changed.

So, I think it’s about time we plan another fun family adventure. But…where should we go? A road trip isn’t out of the question, but finding the time to do it properly is proving to be our biggest hurdle. San Diego and Palm Springs were fun, but should we try somewhere new? Somewhere within driving distance from Santa Barbara is ideal, since airfare for 5 people can add up pretty quickly, but flying somewhere isn’t out of  the question.

Where did you take your most memorable family vacation? Tell us! Where should we go?!
