Howdy, Kid Scoop! I’m New Here

I’m Mary Lauren and I’m so excited to be a new addition to the Kid Scoop team. Although I’m not new to Babble (I was previously at Toddler Times) I still feel like introductions are in order.

Fun facts:

I’m a crafting disaster. Seriously, there’s a reason my DIY board at Pinterest stands for “Delegate it Yourself.”

I’m fascinated by child development and I love serving as a resource for parents through my writing.

I took tap dancing lessons for 2 years in my late 20s and participated in a public recital. Which means that people paid money to see me dance to a Linda Ronstadt song while wearing a cowgirl catsuit.

(I’ll give you a moment to let that last one sink in.)

Anyway, here’s some more about me in case you’re interested. I hope this will help you get to know me a little better!

    My 3 Little Birds
In addition to Babble and Disney Baby, I write the blog My 3 Little Birds. It focuses on self-improvement through motherhood. Of course, I get much of my inspiration from my own kiddos, who are ages 9, 5, and 3. I'm so happy to be able to write about each of them here at Kid Scoop!

This guy taught me how to be a mom. His story is one of pain and hope and lessons learned every day. My younger two are so blessed to have him as their older brother!

    Seeing Myself in Their Eyes
Blogging has helped me see myself in my children's eyes. It's made me more patient, more understanding, and a better mom.

    My Motherhood Journey
I've experienced a lot as a mom: difficulty conceiving, pregnancy loss, postpartum depression, and so much more. I've worked full time and part time outside of the home, been a stay at home mom, and I'm now working from home. All of these experiences help me relate to mothers of all stripes.

    A Writer and a Mom
For the past 2 years I've worked as a freelance writer. This has been an unexpected turn of events but I feel so fortunate to have arrived at this place. I'm thrilled that Kid Scoop is now a part of that journey!
