If a Picture's Worth a Thousand Years, a Video's Worth a MillionLori Garcia
I look through my photo archives pretty regularly as a blogger. What I don’t do often enough is view family video.
Last weekend my family and I sat around scrolling through the DVR and cable guide channel arguing over what was least boring to watch, when I thought it might be fun to make some popcorn and watch home movies.
Friends, it was more than fun. It was magical.
My kids have never been so mesmerized as they were watching themselves try to crawl, give big wet kisses, learn to talk, and play with each other, Not only were our home videos fascinating for my kids, they brought back such beautiful memories for my husband and I as parents. It’s funny, when you’re with your kids every day, you don’t always realize just how quickly they’re changing, but they are. They really are.
Despite our best efforts, our memories can’t capture every beautiful detail of our children as they grow, but video can. We’re so quick to take pictures, but we don’t always remember to record.
It’s a treasure to capture our kids on video. The way they mispronounce their brother’s name, shake their tush when they crawl, make silly faces, or adore the family pet. It’s all magic, and all worth capturing.
While it may not be the most heartwarming video (hello, Usher), I just had to share one of my favorite videos of BooBoo getting his groove on.
Fire up the video camera and record the big stuff, the small stuff, and everything in between. We may not be able to hold onto our kids forever, but with the help of video we can capture the magic for a lifetime.
How often do you capture your family on video?
