If We Won the LotteryMeghan Gesswein
Although, having only spent $5 on tickets, our chances of winning were pretty slim. But still, it’s fun to dream, isn’t it? Ideas about paying off mortgages, buying fancy cars and owning amazing vacation homes around the globe were tossed back and forth.
A big house with a barn, perhaps. Or maybe a sprawling contemporary home right on the beach. Or maybe a mountain retreat with direct access to the ski slopes. Ahhh, dreams. They are limitless, aren’t they?
After lots of back and forth, and a few rolls of the eyes and shakes of the head by both of us, we decided what we’d do if we won the lottery.
We’re selling it all and moving to the Caribbean. We’ll spend the rest of our lives living a laid back, relaxed beach lifestyle. The boys will grow up running around barefoot on the beach, with a nice savings account set aside for each of them for future use. Family and friends will come and go as they please. We won’t have a care in the world, and our only worry will be whether or not we closed the windows before the rainstorm started. But even if we didn’t, it won’t matter! We’re rich, we can just replace anything that gets ruined!
It will be idyllic. But that’s how dreams go, right? That’s why they’re so much fun to think about. So, for the time being, we’ll keep dreaming about our Caribbean getaway, buying the occasional lottery ticket along the way. With our fingers crossed.
What about you? What would you do if you won the lottery?
