The Sanderling

Perched along North Carolina’s majestic Outer Banks coastline, The Sanderling is a paradise for parents and kids. Composed of three separate shingle-style inns, families can easily spread out here and enjoy varied activities including kayaking, golfing, and some serious spa treatments. In addition to waterfront rooms, families can also book one of five stand-alone houses that are ideal for reunions and larger groups. Explore the nearby Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary – 3,400 acres full of cormorants, plovers, and other wading birds. The dining options are plentiful, but The Sanderling’s best bet is the Lifesaving Station Restaurant & Swan Bar. This restored station dates from 1899 and is packed with nautical artifacts while serving fresh seafood and kid favorites.
