Little Brother Gets in on the "Gaming" Action with Disney Junior Apps

It’s no secret that our family loves video games. Before we had kids, my husband and I were known to have epic competitive video game battles. I would like to point out that he didn’t win as often as he would have you believe. Ahem.

Now that our kids are older (the older two are a whopping 7 and almost 5), I can safely report that they have inherited our love for virtual entertainment. It is both a blessing and a curse, because while it’s a great way to keep them occupied sometimes, they are starting to border on video game obsessed. And while I don’t usually mind if they want to play video games, I really don’t mind if they play games that are educational and age appropriate. So I was especially happy when I heard that Disney Junior had recently released several apps that are geared toward the 2-7-year-old age range.

My 5-year-old seems to be the perfect demographic for both the Jake’s Never Land Pirate School app and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisode. Because he is usually following in his brother’s gaming footsteps, he is often frustrated at his level of ability when it comes to the games that they play. But as soon as he started playing the Disney Junior apps he knew that it was games that he could understand and play.

And play he did. I didn’t have access to my iPhone while he played Jake’s Never Land Pirate School, and when I couldn’t stand it any longer, his big brother had to begrudgingly give up the iPad so that Zach could play the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisode on it.

The games were a big hit, and I suspect that, as my 2-year-old gets more into video games, he’ll enjoy playing them as well.

The best part, though, is that both apps are free! You can download Jake’s Never Land Pirate School here and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisode is available here.

If your kids can’t get enough of Disney Junior, don’t forget that Disney Junior WATCH makes full length episodes of its popular shows available online at www.watchdisneyjunior.com and via the Disney Junior WATCH app on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. I don’t know about you, but the watch app is a great tool to keep in your back pocket when you’re out in public with your kids and you’re desperate for a distraction!

Also, join us Wednesday, August 8th at 9 PM EST for a Disney Junior Twitter party! You could win an iPad. RSVP at http://bit.ly/QsXDE2 and use the hashtags #spon and #mackidtips

A big thanks to Disney Junior for sponsoring this campaign. Click here to see more of the discussion.
