Are We Human? Or Are We Dancers? (I For One am a Very Bad Singer.)Casey Mullins
For some people it’s running.
For others it’s cooking (and perhaps the end result of eating.)
For a few of my friends it’s taking off at night to read celebrity magazines in the quiet aisles of the bookstore.
For my husband it’s going to the gym and for my sister in law it’s cleaning something.
In a dream world it could be a day at the spa.
While I have several things I like to do to decompress and de-stress, last week I found my number one most favorite way to loosen up, it’s cheap and can be done in as little as 5 minutes (but longer is preferred.)
I like to get in my car, turn the radio up as loud as possible and sing along at the top of my ever loving lungs will allow.
Some days don’t allow for decorum, I will sing in heavy traffic and not care one whit who can see me. Other days call for parking lots and back country roads where I can wail in relative privacy. It’s never the same with someone in the car, be they drunk friend or baby. I have to be alone and have complete power over my playlist. Nothing can ruin a singing high more than Lionel Richie following up the greatest sing along ever. (Not like I have Lionel on my iPod anyway, but you get the idea.)
For now, these are my absolute most favorite songs to sing along to, embarrassingly loud. (Embarrassing also in the fact that I cannot sing. CANNOT. Tone deaf for days, no one who has heard me dares argue this fact.)
- Human by The Killers
- Dog Days are Over by Florence + The Machine
- The Cave by Mumford and Sons
- All Over You by Live
- Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
- Gravity by Sarah Bareilles
- Hitchin’ a Ride by Green Day
- (Almost) Anything Ke$ha (she may bug me but the girl has some catchy songs.)
What are yours? I need a few more good ones to add to my car singing repertoire.
