My Work-From-Home Secret: Education Through Fun on My Phone!

By Devan McGuinness |

As a work-from-home mom, there are times where I am at a tight deadline for work and need some help keeping the kids entertained for half an hour. We have our go-to TV shows and movies, but what my kids really love playing with is my iPhone!

There are some really great apps and games available for kids and it would be easy to go way over budget with everything that is available, so I tend to rely on the free games for the kids. Those ones can be a hit and miss sometimes, but thanks to Disney Junior I don’t have to break bank to keep my kids having fun.

I love to have games on my phone that are fun for the kids, help them learn without realizing they are learning. I like apps that are geared for all the ages of my kids, from (3 years old to my 6-year old) and will help Speed work on his fine motor movements.

Disney Junior just released 2 *FREE* apps for kids: Mickey Mouse Club House Road Rally and Jake’s Never Land Pirate School so we decided to give one a try!

The app was totally free (so big bonus for mom) and the kids already know and love Jake. It was especially entertaining for my oldest who loves all things pirate right now, but still appropriate for my youngest (and let’s be honest, I don’t want to have separate game folders for each kid!) who was able to understand the commands and play along.

So, if you are looking for an app that is great for the kids to work on skills while being educational download this one for free.  It will help your sanity while you’re working a tight deadline. Guilt free cause, hey they’re learning something!

Disney Junior Disney Junior WATCH makes full length episodes of its popular shows available online atwww.watchdisneyjunior.com and via the Disney Junior WATCH app on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch for FREE!

  • Comcast Xfinity subscribers have access to premiere content, including a live feed of the network online and through the app.  After the live feed, current shows will be available “on demand”. Perfect if you’re in the middle of a show and need to run out to do errands.  No complaints from the kids that they’ll miss the end of their show. Or perhaps there are several kids in a family who like different programs.  One can watch on the TV, while the other watches on their favorite device. Missed their favorite show?  They’ll have up to 10 days to catch up on WATCH!
  • Fans who aren’t on Comcast can contact their cable provider to ask for the service via the website or the app.

Go download the apps for FREE & join us August 8th at 9 PM EST for a Disney Junior Twitter party! You could win an iPad. RSVP at http://bit.ly/QsXDE2 - #mackidtips

I always shun parents away with a glare when I see them let their kids play with iphones, ipads, itouch, or whatnot. But I guess it’s time to stop judging, I’m a working mom too and it’s hard to make sure my kids are having fun AND learning. I’m pretty sure I’m going to download this (esp if it’s free). I’ll have to check this App out! Thanks for this!

I used to feel the same way Sara! Now I just try to balance the time I let my kids use the iPad with the amount of time they read a physical book or play outside.

@gabby seriously! Haha, cheers to companies with lots of rich investors. Keep these free apps coming because us working mom could use a hand or two. Can’t wait to download the app and have my kids give it a spin. It outta be good; it’s a Disney product after all.
