Chances are all your eggs have been dyed and placed into one basket despite being advised against doing such a thing. As I was futzing around Pinterest one night I noticed a tutorial for silk dying eggs. As in wrapping uncooked eggs in silk, boiling them and TA DA! I found it late on a Sunday night and had to reign my excitement until I could make it to a thrift store.
Turns out silk ties and shirts were pretty easy to find and ranged in price from $0.60-$2.00 and we could dye 2-3 eggs from each tie. As stated in the original tutorial, darker colors worked better, with reds and dark blues being the most successful. I even found a Viagra themed tie from Pfizer, there were plenty of jokes about wrapping eggs up in it and making them hard.
See how they turned out, after the jump!
Addie had a lot of fun searching the racks for silk and we had a pretty good lesson on “Everything shiny and soft is not silk, rather polyester.” We found one purple silk shirt she wanted to keep for herself (she didn’t get to.)
