Small Kids Moments: Glitter Play Dough

By Nichole |

After my recent run in with super fine glitter, I was more than a little hesitant to tackle a project with glitter in any form.

But my girl? She loves glitter. Sigh.

This week, in my first Small Kids Moment, I am tackling glitter play dough from a recipe I found on styleberry blog.

Shawna is a spectacular photographer and I could get lost for hours on her site.

And her little helper for this project? Divine.

Thank you, Shawna for sharing your recipe with me!

To make your glitter play dough, here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 c flour
  • 1 c water
  • 1/4 c Salt
  • 1 T vegetable oil
  • 2 t cream of tartar
  • food coloring or Kool Aid
  • glitter (Shawna recommend big flakes)
  • pot
  • spatula
  • 2 or more small helping hands

I loved making the Kool-Aid Play Doh…but never thought to add glitter! What an awesome idea, and you were smart not to use superfine glitter.

I am not a crafter, nor creative in any way but even I think I could do this. Thanks for sharing!

Love this!!!! It would make a great Christmas gift, too. The Container Store has tons of cute containers.

Ha! I was banned from glitter as a first grade teacher. It took all year to get it out of the carpet and everywhere else:)

I just wanted to let everyone know that if you like those glass containers with the white lid I sell them on my Pampered Chef website: and they are available in 1 cup, 2 cups and 3 cups.
    Happy shopping! :)

I may have to try this with Maddy. She’s really into to cooking AND crafts lately. You’ll be available for clean up, right?
