Spring Break is Over! Back to Regularly Scheduled ProgrammingDevan McGuinness
Phew… did you guys survive the week home with the kids? Just barely, like me? Did you wake up early today, but happy about it because it means the kids are back to school?
I don’t know why, but this year having the kids home for the week was really trying for me. Before school started for them, I had them home all the time — always. I thought that when they had to go to school, I would hate having the new routine and having them away from me.
Turns out, I love that they go to school and kinda look forward to when Bean starts next year. I don’t even know what a quiet house sounds like! So, this last week when they were home on their March break, I was surprised with how much it changed things around here.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved having them home. I loved hanging out with them and sleeping in a bit longer. It’s just that it’s so much different when the routine goes out the window. Their sleep schedule gets all crazy, their food habits increase and they argue more. They get bored and it just seems to make things a little more challenging.
This morning, we sent Speed off back to school. Raru goes back tomorrow and routine will start up again! They don’t have an extended time off now until summer break starts and then I will have to manage the change in routine for another 2 months. For now though, I am thrilled that the house is a little quieter, the routine is back and in order, and my kids are off seeing their friends and tiring out their brains!
