The Joys Of Being A Not-At-Home Dad [Video]

not at home dadIf you’re a stay-at-home parent, you have my unending fascination as to how you manage.

I can’t do it. I’ve tried. I just can’t go there.

I first discovered my inability to be a SAHD when I was out of work for 4 months in mid-2009.

Zacharie had just turned 2, and since I had no job to go to, we spent a lot of time together. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and, in the end, I gave up on being a SAHD.

Yes, I went out and landed another job, but that’s not what I’m talking about. It’s the staying-at-home part that I had (and have) so much difficulty with.

Whenever I have free time to spend with my kids, the last place I want to be is at home.

Episode 3 of my video blog, Walking To School, examines why I am proud to call myself a Not-At-Home Dad.

What do you do when it’s your ‘turn’ to ‘mommysit’ or ‘daddysit’? Do you have a favorite thing you like to do when you’re one-on-one with your kids?

Here’s the full roster of Walking To School episodes.
