We all know that cereals marketed to kids contain loads of sugar. But, do you know just how much sugar is in the bowl that you pour your kids every morning? Do you care, or do you turn a blind eye because, even though it’s loaded with sugar, it’s also fortified with vitamins and minerals, so it can’t be that bad, right?
Researchers from Yale’s Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity just released the results of a study that focused on the nutritional information of cereal and the marketing that accompanies it. They also released a video that is meant to demonstrate just how much sugar is in a bowl of cereal. The video, and study findings, are eye opening. You can read the report here and you can see the video below. Then tell me, do studies like this affect the way you feed your kids, or do they hold no weight in your decision making process? I have to say, after reading the report and watching the video, I made my kids bagels this morning instead of giving them a bowl of cereal.
