What LGBT Parents Want You to Know

There’s simply no “one size fits all” for parenting.

While modern families may come in a variety of forms, one thing remains the same: Parents’ love for their children matters most of all.

For so many LGBT parents, societal ignorance remains an ongoing battle. I reached out to the LGBT community for their voices on parenting in the age of the modern family; check out what they had to say after the jump.

Gay parents don't raise gay children

Society seems overwhelmingly concerned with gay parents' ability to raise children with traditional gender role models. Gay parents don't raise gay kids. Period. My son will grow to love who he loves and we'll love him unconditionally.

  • We have stable, happy homes

    We have stable, happy homes

Sexual orientation has nothing to do with providing a stable and loving home. My partner and I live traditional lives with one goal in mind, to raise a happy, tolerant kid. So far we’re doing a great job!

Sexual orientation and the ability to parent are unrelated

My partner and I work hard to provide our son with the very best. Sexual orientation and the ability to parent are completely unrelated.

  • Gay parents are not sexual deviants

Gay parents are not sexual deviants

To assume gay people are sexual deviants is ridiculous. This kind of ignorant thinking sets our cause back about 100 years. We believe in the importance of protecting children just as much as any parent!

    Don't worry about my kid

Yes, our daughter has two moms. So what? She's not weirded out by it so why should anyone else be? She also has five uncles, one crazy aunt, two grandpas, and a grandma who all adore her. She's a lucky kid.

I’m not a LGBT parent but i dont see anything wrong with it and i dont understand why people have to be all in their business. As long as the child/children are being taken care of and loved, what does it matter?!?!?!?

  2. Misty says:

To Angela Mother of 1 Why in the pic of you and your girlfriend with your son at the beach- is he wearing a PINK onesie???

  3. mommyfriend says:

The image is a stock photography image and not an image of Angela.

  4. David J. Bauman says:

To Misty: Why would the pink onsie be a problem? Did you become more butch because your mom dressed you in a blue bathing suit? Get serious.
