10 Life-Saving Safety Tips that Could Potentially Save You and Your Child’s Life

By Carmen Ordonez |

I remember being 7-years-old walking with my older sister to grab the mail. In a blink of an eye, I remember a blue old car pull up next to me. Inside was a heavy-set man with red short hair. He told me to get inside his car — he was going to give me candy. Having been taught stranger danger, I immediately started to scream and run. The man quickly did a U-turn and sped off. The police were called, but he was never found.  Twelve years later, that story still brings me chills. I was very fortunate that day, and unfortunately that is not the case for the many children that go missing.

But having a plan potentially saved my life. As an adult, it’s important to have a plan as well. A few months ago I attended a women’s safety class that was hosted in my neighborhood by a former FBI agent. She taught us so many things and I wanted to share some of those with you.
