15 Beauty Products that Support Breast Cancer Awareness

My Aunt Terri had a smile that could light up any room. She was feisty and had a sass about her that no one would dare challenge. I’ll never forget her radiant and beautiful face that reminded me of Lucille Ball. I also won’t forget her battle with breast cancer and how it stole her from us.

She was only 48-years-old, a wife, and the mother of three daughters. I remember the day, like it was yesterday, when I was told of her passing. I was only 19-years-old. I was heartbroken, confused, and angry. All these years later, and I still miss her. I’ve come to realize that breast cancer affects everyone and we are all connected one way or another.

rsz_elc_2013_bca_campaign_pr_visual_2The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women this year. And the chances of a woman developing it during her life is about 1 in 8. I didn’t know until today, that 1% of all breast cancer cases in the U.S. are diagnosed in men.

With stats like these, I can’t stress how important breast cancer awareness is. Education, early detection, prevention and research is key.

That’s why, when I heard about the Estee Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and the work it was doing to help raise funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, I knew I had to share it with you.

This year, their  theme is “Let’s Defeat Breast Cancer. We’re Stronger Together.” I couldn’t agree more. To date, their campaigns have raised more than $48 million to support global research, education and medical services. And this year, they are committed to raising $5 million more.
