Summer is here amigas! How do I know? Well, it’s hot out! Like really hot! And because we’re out here baking, we’ve probably already pulled out our favorite summer beauty products. But, I bet there just might be a few you’ve overlooked.

I know the hot weather can be overwhelming and we can’t remember everything as we’re running to the beach! Believe me, I understand! That’s why I’ve compiled a list of five overlooked summer beauty products that I think come in really handy! Products that will help you in your sweatiest and most sunburned moments.

AFTER-SUN CARE PRODUCTS

The past few summers, I have been vigilant about sun protection for my skin. I wear sunscreen religiously now, but in the past I wasn’t very smart about it and I ended up with a sunburn. They are literally the worst! I cringe just thinking about it. Unless you’re going to walk around naked after a sunburn and not let anything touch your skin, you should really invest in some after-sun care products. You can find them in your local drugstores, often come in a gel or cream, and usually contain aloe for soothing the skin. It can be a lifesaver! I like Clinique’s After-Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe.

ANTI-CHAFING CREAM

Raise your hand if you suffer from “chub rub.” If you didn’t raise your hand, then you’re lucky. When it’s hot out and your thighs rub together, your skin will chafe. It’s something runners deal with a lot. Believe me, it does not feel good! That’s why I make sure to always prep with an anti-chafing cream. I apply it to my inner thighs when I’m getting dressed and carry it with me, just in case it wears off. I’m a big fan of Lane Bryant’s Cacique Keep It Smooth anti-chafing cream to powder. If it’s an emergency and you don’t have an anti-chafing cream, try using your deodarant. That helps too!

LIP BALM WITH SPF

Yes, you have your sunscreen with SPF, but what about your lips? They need sun protection too! Make sure to apply a lip balm with SPF. Try something simple like ChapStick’s Ultra 30. You can wear it alone or over your existing lip color. Personally, I like to reapply every hour or when needed—after eating or a dip in the pool or the beach. This is an easy way to keep your lips soft and protected this summer!

PROTECTIVE HAIR CARE

Just when you thought it was safe for your hair to go outside! Sorry to inform you but your hair needs protection too. Those UVA/UVB rays are no joke! They can cause damage to your hair like dryness and fading of your hair color. If you don’t want to wear a hat all summer, then try something like Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil. Products like this offer your hair protection from sun exposure. Find one that suits your needs.

CORNSTARCH POWDER

Oh how I love thee cornstarch powder! You’re so amazing when it comes to sweat absorption. As a woman, I have to deal with yucky breast sweat. Yes, breast sweat. Don’t be ashamed ladies, a lot of us go through it and it can be uncomfortable. There are some products out there you can buy especially for this, but I just go with JOHNSON’S® Baby Pure Cornstarch Powder. It’s inexpensive and works in other sweat-prone areas too. It can be a little messy, because it’s a powder. I just make sure to apply right after the shower, before getting dressed.

Great tips especially about protecting your hair!

I have been wearing Blinc mascara all summer. I picked up a tube at Sephora- it’s like a Clinique mascara that I’ve tried where it only comes off w/warm water! The Blinc brand makes my lashes thicker though, whereas the Clinique just darkens a bit….very useful when you don’t want a full face of melty makeup but you still want to look good!
