Be Present. Be Thankful. 21 Days of Gratitude Challenge

21 days of gratitude

I was lying in my bed feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.

Because…

I couldn’t keep up with my schedule.

I was being pulled in every direction.

I felt guilty knowing I was falling behind.

I was annoyed with myself for not being able to keep up with my demanding schedule.

And then the tsunami hit — my son got the stomach bug. He was literally throwing up all night.

I was so exhausted, and all I could do was just lay there crying silent tears.

Months before all this drama, I had already planned on starting this Gratitude Project that needed to be kicked off in a few days. The thought of organizing another project threw me into sheer panic. But then it hit me: this Gratitude Project has to be a priority in my life. The very fact that I am so busy only makes it more likely that I won’t have time to stop. I won’t have time to be grateful. I won’t have time to be a beauty seeker. The moments pregnant with wonder will pass me by.

And 21 Days of Gratitude was born. I truly believe gratitude can be contagious. So join me as we spread the joy of savoring the little moments for just a bit longer. All you have to do is share what you’re thankful for in the privacy of your home, with your kids at dinner, in your journal, on Facebook or Twitter, or write about it on your blog. Whatever you do, just spread the joy of gratitude.

My hope is that this month, gratitude would be contagious in the homes of thousands of families and that our kids will be involved in it and experience the joy that lies in being grateful. Who wants to join me?

There are over 20 bloggers who are joining in the fun. Each day, a different blogger will share a thankful quote to inspire you and either a story or activity to spur you on in this journey of gratitude. You can find the schedule here, along with all of the information for you to join in. Don’t you worry if you’re jumping in late or if you skip a day or two. Just enjoy it as you can. You can download our cute gratitude prompts here  or our gratitude jar prompts here.
