Let’s face it, sometimes life throws drab and dreary days at us. You know those moments when you just feel “blah” and there’s something missing, but you just can’t put your finger on it. We’ve all had them, we’re only human. When having one of those yucky days, I think I know just what you need — 5 beauty pick-me-ups to get you going again! Follow these easy to achieve tricks that are quick to get the blood pumping again.
1. Wear a Bold Red Lip
I don’t care how bad of a day I’m having, whenever I wear that pop of red on my lips, I feel like it wakes my face up! And there are a million-and-one shades of red to choose from. My personal favorite is a bright orange red hue: Get to the Poinsettia by Flower Beauty ($6.89).
2. Try a Blowout
If you’re struggling with your hair, but don’t want to go as drastic as a color change or a cut, try a blowout. Blow dry bars are everywhere today. They’re a quick and easy way to have someone else wash and blow dry a style for you. This is especially great on those drab days! Check out these tips to help maintain your blowout.
3. Experiment with a Colorful Eye Liner
Some times you just need a little pick-me-up in the makeup department. You don’t want to go too extreme, but you definitely need a little something to liven things up. Why not experiment with a colorful eye liner? Covergirl’s Queen Collection Vivid Impact Eyeliner ($5.99) adds that “oomph” you’ve been looking for. My favorite shade is “Jade.”
4. Try an Invigorating Face Mask
Never forget your skin care on drab days. It is the base of any makeup look. That’s why I suggest an invigorating face mask. You can either make one at home, like this Oatmeal Honey Face Scrub, or try one like Bliss’ Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask ($50). Either way, your face will thank you. It should feel fresher and look brighter. Remember to find one made especially for your skin type.
5. Apply a Vivid Nail Color
When all else fails, add a fresh coat of vivid nail color! It’s as simple as that. I’ll take L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Jet Set to Paris ($5.99), please! Something like cobalt would be a welcomed change from your basic shades.
