It seems like the nursing Gods have listened to my prayers (and my tweets) and it comes in the name of Mamava. Mamava is a nursing and pumping station that will be debuting at Burlington International Airport in Vermont this month. As a nursing mom myself, I travel a lot for work and have had to deal with pumping at the airport and can tell you it is not fun AT ALL. I’ve been crammed up in bathroom stalls with my pump in hand trying my best not to touch anything—it’s so gross.
The free-standing prototype sounds like a dream come true for many nursing moms. It has antimicrobial surfaces, soft lighting, a space for your luggage and stroller and a place to situate your pump. It also has comfortable seating so you can breastfeed your little one in a nice and peaceful environment.
There also might be plans to bring a lightweight version for temporary use in workplaces with limited space such as schools, smaller offices or offices with open floor plans..etc.
Here’s a sketch of what the station will look like. What do you think of the station? I can’t wait to try it out.
ps. Here’s a post I did on my baby’s first flight
