Fashion Tips for Dressing Your Baby Bump

Dressing an ever growing baby bump can definitely be challenging. I remember the first few months I was pregnant, I had such a hard time finding form-fitting clothes.  It also probably didn’t help that I refused to wear maternity clothes. But just because you have a bun in the oven doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your style. Here are a few maternity style tips to help you look fashion forward throughout your pregnancy.

Look for Form Fitting Clothes, Instead of Oversized
When shopping for maternity clothes, look for pieces that are form fitting and that highlight your shape. Contrary to belief, clothes that are oversized will actually make you look bigger than you really are.

When I was pregnant, the BellaBand became my new best friend. I was able to wear my regular jeans up until I was 8 months pregnant. It basically holds up your unbuttoned jeans, letting you get away with not having to buy maternity jeans.

Just because you are pregnant doesn't mean you have to wear maternity clothes. Dresses with an empire waist are great non-maternity options. When I was 4 months pregnant I went on a cruise with my husband, and on formal night I wore this David's Bridal empire waist dress. The empire waist highlights the narrowest part of your waist and flows over your baby bump, making it comfortable yet stylish.

Accessories are a great way to dress up any outfit (plus they have no size). Add some instant oomph, by adding a statement necklace like this one.

This spring, maxi dresses are still all the rage. I practically lived in my maxi dress while I was pregnant. You can easily transition a maxi dress from day to night with a simple swap of accessories. This pink maxi dress from LOFT is right on trend.
